A poem - "Going on a walk"

Going on a walk,

I see bunnies hopping by

In the green blades of grass

Where the daisies and sunflowers rest

and the scent of fresh air renews me.

I watch the trees

as they let the wind

Flutter their leaves

and shelter me from the sun.

Excitement fuels me as I get ready.

When I finally step out the door,

I'm immersed in the feeling of “free.”

When I walk,

I'm alone with my thoughts

Yet together with nature.

The ends of my hair

Start to dance behind me

as I walk through the soft breeze

and watch the birds glide

Against the beautiful blue sky

and perch in the trees.

This beautiful walk ends

and my mind has been reset,

My body relaxed,

and my soul rejuvenated.

Oh, how I love Going on a walk.

You see what I did there with the first and last lines? That was one of the most memorable parts of writing this poem, and I'm so glad that I tried it out! I feel like it gives my poem a really nice touch.

In this poem, I tried playing around with the figurative language and not using rhymes too much. I wanted it to have a soft and relaxing vibe, yet still poetic instead of a basic and bland poem. Now that I look back at it, I think I did a pretty good job! In the beginning, I had no idea what the first + last lines and the title would be. Really, I'm not kidding. Then, I decided to look at what it was about - and so I made that the title. However, I still didn't know what the first and last lines were going to be. But then I thought of just putting the title as the first line and doing the same thing for the last line. And hey, I think it's pretty neat!

As you can tell, this poem is about going on a walk (obviously...💀), and everything is pretty straightforward, no background themes or anything. So, unfortunately, there aren't many opportunities to analyze here. However, speaking of walking, School is tomorrow! I'm nervous, but at the same time, I'm really excited! (surprisingly... 😭) And when school starts, I'm going to be walking a lot, so this is a really nice poem to read once in a while just so I don't get tired of walking.

Anyway, I hope you enjoyed reading this poem because it was a lot of fun to write! What's something you love to do, and would you write a poem about it like I did here?
