"The Sunset" - A Haiku

Warm shades stain the sky

An orange tint to the world 

Cherished memories.

For any of you who don’t know what a haiku is, it is a Japanese poetry form that includes a three-line poem, with 5 syllables in the first line, 7 in the second, and 5 in the last line as well.

I know this post is a lot shorter than my usual content, but I wanted to try out what writing a haiku is like. ( my last post was a lot longer, which makes up for this short post!) 

A few days ago, I looked out a window in my house that showed the backyard, and I saw that the sky was a wonderful orange and pink color. I’m not sure how to describe this next part, but here’s the best I can do: The sky painted the world a warm orangey-pink color, which looked so beautiful and unreal. I thought I was literally inside of a photoshopped picture! And what do you do when you see a sunset? You take pictures! So, that’s what I did - I took a lot of pictures on my phone, to cherish the moment.  (the pictures I've shared look a little more pink - probably something to do with the camera!)

Later that evening, I decided to write a poem on it - however, I wanted it to be short and sweet, just like the moments that I spent admiring the sunset. I also wanted to try out a new style of poetry, so I decided to make this haiku. I think I did an awesome job of this!
